Dr. Paul Strøm I am an assistant professor at the University of Warwick where I hold a combined researcher and project manager position and am actively involved in two ESA-related projects. The first of these is the ESA PLATO space mission, which is a space telescope being developed by ESA with a planned launch in 2026. It is designed to find small, rocky exoplanets in the habitable zones of stars like the Sun. I work within the ground segment on coordinating the scientific work of the PLATO consortium.

The second project I am involved in is Revealing Orbital and Atmospheric Responses to Solar activity (ROARS), a CubeSat swarm project being developed for ESA, focusing on exploring the impact of space weather on space debris and orbital congestion. ROARS characterizes atmospheric drag in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) through distributed CubeSat observations and coordinated tracking campaigns. This provides crucial insights for predicting and preventing collisions and enhances understanding of Earth's outer atmosphere. ROARS, funded by ESA, is a Phase 0 study and candidate mission within ESA's technology program. We aim to be selected for a Phase A study in May.
